Community Support Services (CSS Central)

The Community Support Services Central – a specialist service within Framework - is responsible for engaging and supporting clients with mental illness. The aim is that these consumers can engage in their chosen community and achieve their fullest potential.  This includes working with the consumer as well as a commitment to work actively in partnership with family/ whanau, Community Mental Health Centres and General Practitioners.

The service promotes self management and self reliance for mental health consumers in areas such as accommodation, transport, employment, self care, personal and interpersonal skills so that it will enable them to live as independently as they are able to in the community of their choice.  Our consumers live in Central Auckland, Waiheke Island and West Auckland.  The service is for people with low to severe mental health problems who are finding it difficult to live in their community, or to reach their desired goals.  Some of these difficulties may involve financial issues, daily living skills, employment, housing or education.

Some of the reasons consumer’s may need CSS employees to assist after hours are:

  • Settling into new accommodation
  • Needing after hours guidance, support or reassurance.

CSS consumers are supported 24/7 by CSS employees, however most support is provided between 8am -8pm Monday – Friday  and an after-hours dedicated CSS duty phone. Additionally, the services provide daily medication support 6-8pm. Consumers have the option to either text or ring.  The Registered Ocupational Therapist/ Social Worker and Support Workers have specialised and a wide range of skills applicable to the respective qualification, which include knowledge in communication skills, assessments, planning and implementation, psychiatric medication (including side effects) and a good knowledge of mental health disorders. Our employees act as positive role models throughout the process.

Community Support  Services (CSS South)

Community Support Services South (CSS) – a specialist service within Framework - is responsible for engaging and supporting clients with mental illness. The aim is that consumers can engage in their chosen community and achieve their fullest potential.  This includes working with the consumer as well as a commitment to work actively in partnership with family/whanau, Awhinatia Mental Health Clinicians and/or GP services. Our catchment area is between Papakura and Franklin. The employees act as a positive role model throughout the process.

The service promotes self management and self reliance for mental health consumers in accommodation, transport, training, employment, self care,  and personal and interpersonal skills so that it will enable them to live as independently as they are able to in the community of their choice.  Staff work hard to guide and mentor  using each and every opportunity to create independence so clients are working  themselves out of the service. The service is for people with mild to severe mental health disorders who are finding it difficult to live in their community, or to reach their desired goals. CSS is provided by Framework and is based on a vision of “recovery through partnership”. “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a  day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime”. Most support is provided between 8am -8pm Monday – Friday.
